Dave Godin, David Nathan and Robert Blackmore embarked on the Soul City project in 1966. It was the beginning of a three year journey which would see Soul City open up the world’s first exclusively Soul music record shop outside of America in Deptford, South East London and a start a label which gave Gene Chandler his first UK hit and whose other releases were central to the development of Northern Soul.
Peckham Soul’s Craig Jamieson has complied a mix which capture the labels finest moments and music associated with the project. Go to the features page to check out a fascinating interview with Soul City’s very own David Nathan.
