Closed For Business ( Seven EP )
Mansun Closed For Business colour 12" collecting rare tracks from the Seven EP for the first time on vinyl. Exclusively for Record Store Day following career spanning boxset.
Mansun were one of the most iconic and innovative British bands of the late 90's. Having signed to the legendary record label Parlophone (home to The Beatles, Radiohead and Sigur Ros) they released four albums Attack of the Grey Lantern (1997), Six (1998), Little Kix (2000) and the compilation Kleptomania following the band's split – as well as a popular and now rare series of EP's. Kscope, having now acquired this impressive catalogue, are running a thorough a reissue series that delves into a treasure trove of previously hard to find audio and visual material. 2020 saw the release of the critically acclaimed career spanning 25-disc box set Closed For Business.
Following on from this set is another treat for fans with more rarities released for Record Store Day 2021. This new 12" brings together tracks previously available across the formats for the bands 'Seven EP' release in 1997. The music on the EP reveals a transitional sound for the band, in which the club-crossover brit-pop style of their earliest work is left behind in favour of a more organic sound, one closer to progressive rock and post punk. It also features the first collaboration between the group and Magazine frontman Howard Devoto in Everyone Must Win.
All 'RSD Drop 1' titles will be available for purchase in store from 8am Saturday 12th June. Online sales for remaining stock will start at 6pm 12th June.
