This overlooked quartet album by the great drummer Roy Haynes was recorded in New Jersey on September 10, 1963 with the neglected Frank Strozier (alto sax, flute); Ronnie Mathews (piano) & Larry Ridley (bass).

The five memorable tracks include originals from Strozier & Mathews plus one standard and a medley. Highlights are Strozier's flute feature on his 'Modette', Mathews' soulful 'Go 'N' Git It!' and the standard 'I'm Getting Sentimental Over You' with Strozier's vibrant alto playing.

'Cymbalism' is an inventive and swinging modern jazz album which serves as an ideal introduction to Roy Haynes & Frank Strozier."
